COCKTAIL OF THE WEEK - FRENCH 75

This week's refreshing cocktail is the historic French 75, shared by our team at East Sussex National. Named after the French 75-millimeter light field gun which due to its portability and rate of fire was the mainstay of the French army during World War 1.

An early form was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris—later Harry's New York Bar by barman Harry MacElhone

Good luck and happy cocktail creating!

INGREDIENTS

50ml gin
25ml fresh lemon juice
25ml simple syrup
Top with champagne
Long spiral lemon twist (for serving)

METHOD

Combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.

Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.

Enjoy!
